Have 30 years of professional experience and achievement.

Investment Industry:

-In January 2001, joined Patrice Stewart as a principal at Portfolio Performance Analysis, Inc., a financial analysis and expert witness firm.

-In June 2001, established a professional business relationship with broker-dealer Financial West Group as a registered representative / investment adviser representative.

-Conceived, designed, built and professionally nurtured a highly ranked equity research franchise in aerospace and defense electronics at three large U.S. brokerage firms.

-Recognized by the highly acclaimed Institutional Investor equity research survey as an “All-American” research analyst on 13 separate occasions (this is an annual award).

-Initiated and pursued investment banking contacts that resulted in significant deal flow and generated tens of millions of dollars in fee income.

-Worked closely with senior executives (CEO/CFO) from the western world’s largest aerospace and defense firms.

U.S. Marine Corps:

-As a commissioned officer, responsibilities included command, design of training exercises, training, scheduling, supervision, budget management, aide-de-camp to commanding general of Far East bases, and coordination with important high-ranking foreign nationals.

Achievements:

-          As President of PPA, have worked on more than 200 client cases, and have personally taken more than 50 cases through to settlement. Positive six- and seven- digit awards have been obtained for clients in a number of these cases.

-          A primary speaker at 10th annual PIABA convention on analyst liability issues.

-          Selected as a member of the Board of Trustees for Western Michigan University by Governor John Engler of Michigan. Have served in this position since 2001; currently Vice-Chair.

-          Initiated, managed, and nurtured a professional relationship with a “top-5” U.S. aerospace firm that resulted in $30 million in fee income from a $1 billion secondary stock offering. Also, recommended this company’s stock with great success at a time few others recognized the underlying value.

-          Established a close long-term relationship with senior management of a “top-3” U.S. defense firm, and introduced investment bankers to management. Meeting resulted in a long-term business relationship and position as lead manager, with $30 million in fee income, for one of the largest mergers in U.S. aerospace history.

-          Identified, analyzed, and evaluated a business inconsistency in the largest U.S. defense electronics firm of that time. In a highly controversial call, but one proven correct after the fact, investment rating was downgraded from strong buy to a sell. Market recognition for this call resulted in first-time Institutional Investor selection.

-          Built and assiduously nurtured a personal and professional relationship with the COO, and ultimately the CEO, of the fastest-growing U.S. defense electronics firm. This resulted in two underwriting opportunities that generated millions in fee income.

-          Dramatically improved standing of firm’s trading desk. When arrived, trading position was miniscule, but increased this into a “top-3” ranking within a year.

-          Recognized as a “strategic thinker” when identified the emerging consolidation trend among aerospace / defense firms, and spelled this out in a Wall Street Journal interview. Aggressively recommended purchase, when others were negative, which turned out to be the correct posture as defense stocks soared.

-          Utilized “new” valuation techniques like EVA to measure the true underlying value of aerospace / defense electronics issues. Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) versus Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) measures were used extensively.

-          Devised and developed sophisticated sales skills, including an ability to counter investor objections, and close the transaction. Utilizing these techniques, was able to build a 100% track record in closing every IPO, including “difficult” deals.

-          Recognized in the Wall Street Journal research poll in either the Earnings or Stock Selection categories on numerous occasions since the poll was commissioned.

-          Appeared as the featured guest on the highly acclaimed investment program Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser.

-          Conceived and built a strong equity research franchise over a 17-year period with a particular focus on forward-looking strategic thinking, insightful analysis, detailed written reports, stock selection, and close client relationships.

-          Designed, implemented, and executed an exercise involving a U.S. Navy submarine, Marines under my command, U.S. Air Force para-rescue troops and aircraft. Exercise went so well that Marine and Air Force Generals exchanged congratulatory messages.
